Core
The core of Bastion’s services include programs like Headway and Wellness Intensive, which were developed by Bastion staff and continue to be led and supported by our dedicated team, plus seasonal social work and occupational therapy interns. Our direct services also include Bastion events, weekly wellness resources led by our staff or community members, and other offerings that are entirely in-house here at Bastion in our new Veteran Wellness Center.
1st ring
Bastion’s new Veteran Wellness Center provides increased space for our nonprofit partners and other local wellness providers to offer their services, classes, and expertise right here at Bastion. These onsite services are curated by Bastion, led by outside partners, and always take place right here at our Veteran Wellness Center for easy access in a familiar environment.
2nd ring
Bastion’s staff and Intake Specialist can help veterans navigate outside resources, make referrals, and follow up to confirm that a connection was made. Our staff can help familiarize veterans with local resources, national organizations, and other holistic means of support beyond what we offer at our Veteran Wellness Center or through our on-site partners.

Weekly Resources
Sobriety Group - Wednesdays at noon
- We offer a peer-led veteran sobriety support group. Drop-ins are welcome. The only prerequisite is a desire for a sober lifestyle at this time.
- This Sobriety Group is for veterans only.
TRE - Wednesdays at 1:30pm
- TRE is a series of movements and stretches designed to help kickstart a natural shaking mechanism in the body to release muscular tension and stress. This is a group wellness class led by social worker Lovella Calica, LCSW.
Walking Group - Fridays at 9am
- Community members meet in the center before taking a walk around our beautiful Gentilly neighborhood; weather permitting. Wheelchair users are always welcome. This is also a great time to meet other veterans who might be interested in finding a running partner or exercise buddy.

Major Events

- Bastion’s hosts an annual Wellness Fest connecting veterans and Gentilly community members with cost free health screenings, wellness providers, and both group and individual wellness services. In the past, this special event has included yoga, acupuncture, massage, tai chi, sound bath, and resources from nonprofits and health entities all over the city. In 2026, this event will take place inside our brand new Veteran Wellness Center.
